Packaging aids, tilt indicators and shock indicators

Bodyguards and handy helpers: It is very difficult to control how careful forwarding agents will be when handling cargo. Apart from obvious transport damage, it’s up to the sender to ensure intact delivery. That’s why, to protect your package from both moisture and careless handling, we offer you useful tools such as shock indicators (ShockWatch®), tilt indicators (Tiltwatch®), and other packaging aids, including packing-list shields, ventilation panels, and warning labels.

Shock indicator

Shockwatch® finally allows you to see transport damage not visible at first glance.

It unequivocally shows if pre-defined handling regulations have not been upheld, enabling you to reliably trace transport damage or careless cargo handling.

The shock indicator is a highly adhesive label containing a miniature precision glass tube, which hides a red liquid. If the cargo is handled in a manner not complying with the pre-defined instructions, this liquid irrevocably turns the tube red.

The warning label, bearing the instructions for correct handling, is stuck onto the package next to the shock indicator prior to shipment, and the freight forwarder signs off on the indicators’ intact condition. All indicators are checked on arrival. Any triggered or missing indicator is noted on the receipt slip.

To avoid tampering, every Shockwatch® has its own serial number which is also noted on the transport documentation. Forwarding agents worldwide are familiar with Shockwatch® transport indicators, and have learned to handle such packages with utmost care.

Tilt indicator

  • TILTWatch® XTR (incl. warning label in 3 languages)
    PU = 100
  • TILTWatch® Plus
    PU = 50
  • TIP-N-TELL (incl. warning label in English)
    PU = 100

Your goods need to be kept completely still or not be tilted during transportation?
The tilt indicator will irreversibly show you whether or not your shipping requirements have been upheld!

TILTWatch® XTR:
This irreversible indicator turns red if your cargo is tilted more than 83° . Every TILTWatch® XTR has its own serial number, which prevents any misuse (e.g. swapped indicators). This self-adhesive tilt indicator is only activated once stuck onto the package.

TILTWatch® Plus:
This irreversible indicator is designed to protect cargo which gets damaged if tilted even slightly. The TILTWatch® Plus helps you determine whether your package has been turned upside down (180°) or tilted more than 30° left or right during transportation (shown in 10° increments from 30° to 80°). This tilt indicator also has its own serial number to protect against tampering.

TIP-N-TELL:
This irreversible indicator contains blue-dyed sand which flows into the arrow-shaped section when the cargo is tipped approx. 60° or more. This section has an adhesive surface to which the blue grains stick. The self-adhesive TIP-N-TELL is activated on the cargo itself by removing a metal tab. These tilt indicators do not have their own serial numbers, which is why we recommend affixing one inside the cargo and one on the outside, and labelling them, to prevent any misuse or swapping.

Packing-list envelopes and packing-list shields

The packing-list envelopes protect shipping documents from environmental factors such as dirt, dust or rain. Their self-adhesive backs enable them to be affixed to the outside of packages. In addition to their striking colour (red), they can be easily filled from the front (front-loading).

  • Size I for paper in DIN A 6 format
  • Size II for paper in DIN A 5 format

The packing list is labelled in eight languages:
German | French | Portuguese | Arabic | English | Spanish | Russian | Chinese

Additional languages upon request.

The packing-list shields are available in the following sizes:

  • Small – for paper inserts with slots
  • Large – for DIN A5 paper inserts with slots

The packing-list shields are printed in 10 languages and nailed to the shipping crates.

Ventilation panels / Hinged covers

Moisture can quickly accumulate between the outer crate wall and the barrier packaging on large packages, creating the risk of substantial water vapour penetrating the film. This is where ventilation panels can help, as they ensure even air circulation. Depending on package size, it is advisable to affix two or more ventilation panels to the top of the package.
Hinged versions of the ventilation panels are also available. These hinged covers enable you to see inside the package and check the moisture indicator fastened inside.

Ventilation panel

  • Small: 130 x 130 mm
  • Large: 180 x 180 mm

Hinged cover

  • Small: 130 x 180 mm
  • Large: 180 x 250 mm

Warning labels and signs

Warning labels and signs for desiccant use
